Yeah, it is not getting better…
Wake up at 6am under the rain as usual… At 7.30am, we are on our way to the the three lagunas.
Today on the google map we are in green.
We are supposed to enjoy an astonishing view onto the Carhuacoha Lake and the summits around it… However we don’t see anything, just cloud and rain falling.
We have a long day of walking today… After three days where we have been walking just 4 to 5 hours. But it is suppose to be one of the most beautiful day too. (If the sun decides to come out)
Indeed, when you follow the valley and then go up, we walk along three other lakes which we can admire from a view point at 4,500m. But without the light and the sun, it is tough….
We keep walking until the pass located at 4,800m.
The ascension is pretty rude and slippery. We stop at the Mirador, the view point where we cannot really see much… Bloody rain!! A group picture, a few more and we go. We are getting wet.
But as we keeping going up the rain changes into snow. We need to cross a lot of tiny rivers, enough to get your feet wet plus the snow which keeps falling. Finally when we reach the pass at 4,800, the bad weather gives us a break.
The view is amazing and could be more… But it is really cold. Quick lunch (with dogs around asking for food) and we start to go down into the valley.
In this valley we reach our camp at the place called Huayhuash at 4,450m. It stops raining but the valley looks like a big sponge. We try jumping from higher parts to avoid the water, but our feet keep getting wet.
